Smart to boot from SD or micro sd?

    Hi all,

My laptop has a SD card reader. Is it smart to put Windows 10 on a micro SD or SD card? Does it improve performance? I now but from my normal HDD

My guess would be no. But replacing your HDD with a SSD will make your laptop a lot faster.

Edit: Normally this should not void your warranty. Some laptops are harder to get to the HDD caddy.
There are videos on youtube that show you how to open these laptops properly.

    Some extra information about SSDs:
There are two types used in consumer SSD drives: MLC (2 layers) and TLC (3 layers).
TLC is cheaper but slower than MLC drives.
    Reliability: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...ty-models.html

Nowadays the prices for SSDs aren't that expensive anymore.
    TLC
    Crucial BX200: 79,50 euro.
    Samsung 850 EVO: 77 euro.
    MLC
    Crucial BX100: 86,65 euro.
Crucial MX200: 97,30 euro (faster + more features than BX100).
(then there are also SSDs from Intel, OCZ, SanDisk, ...)

    It depends on your requirements.
If you don't want it to be too expensive, but still want to benefit from a SSD
then you go for TLC drives (Samsung EVO or Crucial BX200).
For higher speeds you can go for the MLC drives (e.g. BX100).
For even higher speeds and hardware support for encryption there is the MX200.

There is no bad choice here. All SSDs are faster than hdds.
One option is just costs more than the other one.
(Most SSDs include a free cloning sofware installation.)

Nope, i have a lenovo yoga 2 with a custom formfactor hdd in it. But the HPs are pretty decent and might even take a M2/M.2 (note the difference between those 2) or mSata ssd, allowing you to even keep your hdd

Edit: oh dear, its one of the older HP models, doesnt have m2/msata. Consider replacing your dvd drive with a hdd caddy + ssd.

Its a very old one haha. I have it for 6 years now I think. So a hdd caddy is something like an adapter to make it fit?
