DVD-Drive slow as hell with CoD4 CD

Hey,
I've tried to install CoD4, however my DVD-Drive is nuts on this one..
Playing other games in Singleplayer (CoD1 etc.) everythings works as expected (you can hear the drive running).
However when I put the CoD4 CD in, the drive either does not load the CD in first place, or when it does, everything is slow as hell.
It takes like 2 mins to open a single folder there, the setup.exe doesnt even start properly or crashes and right-click to bring up the properties-menu is also slow.
Even selecting files for manual copy fails the same way.
As I didnt installed CoD4 for like 4 or 5 years, im kind of lost.
Im using Win7 x64 and there are no drive-drivers available to update from.

Any suggestions?

Get the files from a less legal source than your own dvd, after all, you own them

Go clean the dvd

The DVD is as clean as possible (I installed it only once ages ago)
yh, maybe i have not to use no torrent

At least that worked once for me :^)

But I have such external USB drive, where the laser isn't builtin.
