The DiegoLogic site, which hosted the very first xmodel exporter, is no longer active:

    http://www.diegologic.net/CoD/XmodelExporter.htm

So, I reckon you are more-or-less forced to use Tom BMX's xmodel exporter:

    DOWNLOAD XMODEL UTILS

The only thing I would caution you on is that it is difficult to get it to work with COD2. There is no path to find a COD2 install. I resorted to spoofing my COD2 directory, by pretending it was a COD4 install.

EDIT - Tom's Xmodel Utils does not work in Windows XP.

Luckily, some people still have the files:

    www.iznogod.tweak.nl/xmodelexporter.rar

As i have no clue who created this and/or if the credits in the readme are correct, i cannot give any credits.

The other method to rip xmodels is reading the model-data directly out of DirectX: http://www.deep-shadows.com/hax/3DRipperDX.htm

    The Problems:
    - Models are a bit messed up in orientation and scale
    - Need of 3ds Max (to import the 3DRipper-scene and to export it to Maya)
    - Need of Maya 6.0 (to export it to CoD2)
