Hey all,

i've searched all weapons for the weapon-menu together and would like to discuss what weapon shall have what rank.

All Weapons, removed Duplicates (american, german, british, russian):

M1897 Trench Gun

Grease Gun
M1A1 Carbine
M1 Garand
Springfield
Thompson
BAR

MP40
Kar98k
Gewehr 43
Scoped Kar98k
MP44

Sten
Lee-Enfield
Scoped Lee-Enfield
Bren LMG

PPS42
Mosin-Nagant
Tokarev SVT-40
Scoped Mosin-Nagant
PPSh

I would sort all snipers to the end at rank 500 and yeah, then i dont know :>

I'll get to you on this when I'm on a computer, but I have some ideas about the snipers rifles and a rank system. Meanwhile, Kung, why don't you take a trip over to the UP zombie server? I feel they have a pretty decent ones that only would require some tweaks here and there to make it very well suited for themselves.

Also, please bring things like this up in the think tank, otherwise it's existance is pretty much useless :)

please bear with the double post. I figure that the fact this post is a completely different one justifies a tad.

I feel that the guns would make the most sense in the manner that UP uses, as far as sorting goes. They take the weapons and categorize them something like this.

1. Rifles
2. Semi Automatic Rifles
3. Submachine Guns
4. Heavy Assault
5. Close Assault
6. Special Weapons

seeing as the only close assault weapon we have is the Trench gun, and since there are virtually no special weapons, I feel it'd be best to have ours like this.

1. Rifles
2. Semi Automatic Rifles
3. Submachine Guns
4. Heavy Assault
5. Miscellaneous

Note. Snipers would go along with rifles, and then you would choose whether or not to 'scope' the gun. The scoped versions, the Sniper's Rifles, would of course require a much higher rank than those of someone using a non-scoped Rifle.

So, expanded, I think it should look something like this.

1. Rifles
a.Springfield-150 (scoped) 350
b. Mosin Nagant 200 (scoped) 400
c.Lee-Enfield 250 (scoped) 450
d.Kar98k 300 (scoped) 500

2. Semi Automatic Rifles
e. M1A1 Carbine 1
f. Gewehr 43 25 (scoped) 450
g. M1 Garand 150
h. Tokarev SVT-40 250 (scoped) 500

3. Submachine Guns
i. Grease Gun 1
j. Thompson 50
k. Sten 75
l. MP40 150
m. PPS42 200
n. PPSh 250
o. MP44 350

4. Heavy Assault
p. Bren LMG 300
q. BAR 400

5. Miscellaneous
r. M1897 Trench Gun 1

NOTE: (scoped) means the option to scope the gun, and seeing "Mosin Nagant (scoped)" is actually two gun options; selecting Mosin Nagant will give you a non-scoped Mosin Nagant. selecting "(scoped)" however will give you a Scoped Mosin Nagant.

I must go for now. when I return I will add ranks I feel would be fitting. Until then

~Mimic

EDIT: Ok, I've added the ranks, though I feel that the ranks are pretty spaced out. Maybe we could shorten ranks to like 250, and just require more kills? I feel like the large amount of ranks needed to get the next gun could strongly discourage players to start from square....er....rank one, moreso than getting a gun every 3 or 5 ranks or so, and just having a lot to do for each rank. Just a thought :p. Anyway, If you are confused as to what is going on here, I have the rank requirement placed after each gun. For the Scoped weapons, this is the setup.

(gun without scope) (requirement for gun without scope) (gun with scope) (requirement for gun with scope)

If there are any questions or concerns, please tell me. I'm also open to changing this to fit other people so long as it seems reasonable.

Hey Dalton, thank you for the help with the weapons!

The grouping of the weapons is nice.

I dont like the same button for normal/scoped weapons (wanna have them ordered per weapon type and then ordered by rank in there (also easier to make for me)).

The Rank 1 for Grease Gun/M1A1 Carbine/M1897 Trench Gun is a very good idea. So new ppl wont be cannon fodder and have a chance to rank up.

Yeah, you are the second person talking about to-many-ranks. I like it, because there is much to rank up and every rank-up could be rewarded later with something special (e.g. 5 new respawns in deathrun). If the rank 500 is to hard to reach, we can move the ranks of the weapons also to smaller numbers (divide each rank with 2 for example).

So the theory is mostly done, now for the practice.

I don't think they'd be to hard to reach necessarily, its just the gamer's psychology of knowing that there's 500 ranks and then going like ".................ueabvkevbehvb ehvbhelvbehlveahve RAGE QUIT!" *ehem* aside from them seeing something even half that size and going "wow, this is gunna suck to get, but when I do, it'll be awesome."

Dalton, i understand your argument. On the other side i can say, that half of the ranks are harder to get, which will result in less rank-ups = less little steps.

But like i said, we can also divide the ranks for the weapons by 2 (if reaching 500 is to hard).

This could work, but you should still leave some reason to keep leveling. People feel more inclined to go on if they feel they will be rewarded at the end.

It seems okay, but at the same time, I think it may not be a great idea to throw all of the submachine guns first, then another section, then another section. It seems that could get kind of redundant. Also, I think the snipers should probably go later than that.

And bazooka? O.o

just done because the choice of whether the person in front of a submachine gun and a rifle - to distance it will take is still a gun (so far as to mp44) well, and yes to the last level, as a bonus to a maximum pumping can add a bazooka, but not just as well to be killed with two shots - one will be as slow and stun - 2 Kill, or if the enemy is wounded - killed with a 1 shot
