Hey all, I just created a new zm map, build the default stuff of it in Mod Tools Launcher (Compile / Light / Link) and then tried to run it:

Anybody a clue why the default map doesn't start? Never messed with zone files ^^

Ah, well, when I select both localisations (english, german) and select [x] Ignore Errors, it kinda "works", but the graphics + sounds are fucked up.

Also just made a Steam file integrity check, it restored 3 files.

And the sounds are fucked up as well... probably what they mean with "Beta", I just gonna wait till they fix it.

Did you include your stuff in the mapname.csv file before compiling the .ff?

Nope, didn't add anything to any file, just generated the example map and build it. I guess it's supposed to work without any extra-fiddling. ATM I just hope it's a bug and Treyarch is going to fix this fast

Make sure when you go to compile the map, to have all 4 box's checked including link and then I did ignore errors and everything seemed to work fine. Name must follow mp_multiplayermap or zm_zombiemap etc to work I believe

Figured out how to make it link without errors, in mp_fucku.zone, I had to delete the last line:

Include the used material files in your zone file with material,materialnamehere and pack the .iwis in your iwd in the images/ folder.

Soundaliases should be with a loadspec for your map only. .wav files get compiled into the .ff, but .mp3 files shoudl be packed into the iwd.

Also found a fast way to reload a mp_mapname.gsc without 1) Quit game 2) Link Map 3) start BO3 game again. Basically just start the Mod Launcher twice and use the 2nd instance to re-link the .ff and xpak. At every script change, the .ff and .xpak will change their md5 hash. Kinda makes no sense to me, why a script file is going to affect 2 mod files. Couldn't figure out how to run a .gsc without any linking.

I kinda don't like the 1 sentence answers @ StackOverflow, especially for tools with deeply nested menus like Visual Studio plus localized UI. A little picture or even a video gives way more context, to quickly realize what somebody wanted to show

Also thanks for the link, that fixed my sound problem. Shaders still fucked up tho. Tried different skys, but they are either totally black or kinda strange:

I had the same problem but fixed it. Its not perfect but atleast its working.


Open APE, create a new GDT and give it any name.
Create a new Asset in the created GDT.
Name it something like "mp_ssi_fixed".
Set the type to "ssi".
Make sure the new asset is created in the correct GDT.
Change the settings to this: http://i.imgur.com/8xVHEtc.jpg
Save everything and open your map in the radiant.
Select your sun volume (make sure nothing else is selected).
Open the entity info and change the light state 1 to "mp_ssi_fixed".
Press F8 and rebuild the lighting.
Have fun with the new light! :)


If you dont like the sun position, change the values (Pitch/Yaw).
Make sure that ALL settings are the same, only pitch/yaw can be changed without getting into lighting problems again.
Its a beta and we just have to wait for treyarch to fix that stupid lighting but. :(
