Hello,

I have just bought a sound card for 11,85€.
(Optimal Shop New PCI 8 Channel 8CH 7.1 Surround 3D PCI Sound Audio Card Optical CMI8768 Chipset for PC Windows XP/Vista/7)

The installation of this sound card was simple. You have to install the driver by a CD (the driver is old, a new update won't perform this card).
As I wanted to test this sound card by listening to music, the sound was quite bad. I have opened the program PCI 3D Audio Configuration
and I wanted to look up why it gives me a bad sound. There were some settings which I could change, but it didn't really helped me.
So I used google how to get a better sound of this sound card. I couldn't find a solution, so I needed to fix it myself.

There is an Equalizer in this program. There you can change the Frequency.
You have to play a music and play with these settings, till you are happy with your sound.

These are my new settings

For better quality:

It does delay the sound, so its not useful for gaming.

It might also require the installation of srs audio sandbox to work

There is a little problem with this sound card.
Why ever, if I am using headphones, I can hear a noise (as I start my PC). My OnBoard Sound has not this problem.
I tried to find solutions on the internet, but nothing helped.

That mostly means your powersupply is noisy and putting its noise into your soundcard

You should hear different noise when you use your graphics card
