Sadly Xfire has decided on a short notice to stop.
It's been a great experience.
On June 12 Friday Xfire will close.

Waiting like 10 minutes already, but the number isn't changing.. (I want my BSP physics video ^^)

Quite sad for the people, who are just connected over XFire. Good alternative in sight? All to Steam? Maybe Jabber?

Edit: 13 minutes later, the counter is at #2071.

Hell, yeah. My one and only clan since 2007 (where I'm one of the last semi-active ones and still leader) didnt had have any other contact medium, so I guess I'll never meet those awesome ppl again (those who visit xf like once every 6 month), also all those screenshots, vids etc, theyre lost... Sad xf, all of a sudden.

However one must say, xf's time was already over 3-4 yrs or longer ago, it never made its change and its attempt to modernize kind of failed in my eyes.

I'll take the steam route I guess: the_serth;)

EDIT: #2828 :-P

I have Steam, but i mostly use Xfire.
I guess i will be moving completely to Steam now.

Edit: i'm curious if they protect people's download archive. So far the download queue doesn't require you to be logged in.
* removed my download link, it looks unprotected. *

The classic xfire website is mostly still working: http://208.88.178.38/profile/mitchhubers/

How sad........ I've been using xfire since i started playing cod2, it was back in 2007 or 2008... i'll really miss it.
Is there a way I can use my cd-key to add the game to steam or will I have to buy it again?

"You are #4059 in queue" oh yea.

You can add a non-steam game to your library (big + plus in the bottom left corner. however you cannot download/update non-steam games via steam nor get a official key for steam for it)

"You are #4059 in queue" oh yea. Good luck, i climbed 180 places in 3 hrs...

You can keep your browser open and when it is your turn then it will automatically start your download.

Edit: oops, i put myself in the queue again. I downloaded my 1.1 gb this morning.
Also the download was very slow. Max around 300-400 kb/s.

Does somebody plays Ark: survival evolved or Heroes & Generals?
Or BF3 BF4 BO2?

I also play BO2 and i'm thinking about buying Ark: survival evolved. It looks nice, but the performance is the worst.

If anyone is looking for a shooter to try, give Dirty Bomb (on Steam) a try. It's in open beta at the moment, but will be free-to-play when it is released later this year. This has to be the best shooter I have played in many, many years. It is by Splash Damage, who did RTCW and W:ET. They also did Brink, which was a disappointing game but which had a lot of potential. Dirty Bomb is Brink 2.0, with cartoonish characters a la TF2. It is extremely competitive! It is objective-based, and has a high learning curve.

The engine is Unreal 3, and is very well optimised. I am maxing it out at 1080p with all the bells and whistles, and it doesn't miss a frame. It has exceptional hit detection. It is absolutely spot on. Every single game.

For an open beta, the build is quality. I can't see them changing this baby very much, because it is so good.

Give it a try. All the reviews are 80% positive.

I liked the idea (and its characters) of Brink alot. I saw some YouTube reviews on Dirty Bomb and it looks pretty good for a free2play game. Lets hope f2p doesn't kill it. Ill definately give it a try

I forgot to say - Dirty Bomb uses official (as in you can't rent them) dedicated servers, with a browser to pick the region/first map. After that, it is matchmaking with lobbies. There is also a "Quick Match" button, which isn't working too well during the beta. I habitually pick the Euro servers, and get an average ping of 40. So, that suits me. I have never seen my ping dip, even when it's busy, which tells me they are using quality servers and not ones that get over burdened easily.

Hey there,
What about the xfire client is's still working, but on the website there is "For this reason, we have decided to sunset the Xfire Client and the social site so we can focus our efforts on The Xfire Tournament Platform", so what's now? And the main question is that possible to add/remove new member to my community without the social website?
