Hey all,

in last time two successful community projects got kinda killed by Activision through legal issues.

FOURDELTAONE:

Somebody could launch a service offering what fourDeltaOne did, but in the end ATVI still has the ability to threaten the existence of projects like this. Another solution is if somebody develops a p2p version of MW2/MW3 (or similar games) which reduce the risk of ATVI being able to intervene.

Tom Crowley (developer of the XAnim Converter and other nice tools):
- he got 2 legal warnings of Activision
- shutdown forum
- deleted downloads on his website

I guess we need to thank Activision for all this nice things. Or what do you think about this?

Im not familar with fourdeltaone, but is it the same as Teknogod/AlterIW? So what does this mean?

I think FourDeltaOne was made after AlterIW was closed, not sure though

I think Activision has made it clear that you can go too far in ripping off copy-righted material.

Indeed it was. NTAutority thought the issue with AlterIWnet was the ability to played pirated DLC. He thought if FD1 didn't allow that, then it would escape Activision's gaze. Seems he was wrong.

hi

here is a little tip on how u can still download tom crowleys tools all u have to do is replace the x with any number(http://tom-crowley.co.uk/downloads/?id=x) i dont know how much downloads are there but it should be around 14 because the the 1 aviable download got id 14

maybe its the last chance to get it :(

to the fd1 and alteriw project it was a little bit his own fault because the required login , so it was easy for activision to take it down

Would be interesting to know the purpose of this kind of trade policy. Chasing people that rip off material protected under copyright is understandable, not releasing Mod Tools is not.

My interpretation: they don't want players to stick to outdated CoD's. They probably plan a certain time that a gamer will play a recent CoD and after that, they want him/her to buy the newest CoD and not to keep him/her busy on old CoD's thanks to the Mod Tools. A shame really, but this decision they take might really increase their selling.

I don't know what's going on. Tom Crowley activated the downloads again: http://tom-crowley.co.uk/downloads/

Can anybody explain if its allowed now or not?

His Forum is still down though.
